A group of young people from Armenia, Serund Pan-Armenian youth Center NGO attended
a Youth in Action Program in Kobuleti, Georgia, from the 12th to 20th April
2014. This program was funded by the EU “Youth in Action” Program entitled
“Social Alternations of Volunteering Examples” (S.A.V.E.).
All together 27 people from Armenia, Bulgaria, Croatia,
Georgia, Italy, Romania, Spain, Turkey and Ukraine participated in the
project. The overall aim and objectives
of the project were to provide participants
with theoretical and practical knowledge and experience, develop competence of youth workers, youth
leaders, multiples and volunteers to better improve the impact of cross-border
volunteering in multicultural local communities.
A wide range of
methods were used such as workshops, inputs, simulations, role games,
presentations, discussions, etc. The workshops and exercises and the
presentations were the tools to provide the participants with theoretical and
practical knowledge and experiences according to the contents of the training
course.
Participants explored how to increase the
visibility of the Youth in Action programme by making current volunteers more
visible in their hosting community and emphasizing their positive contribution and obtain from intercultural
communication.
All participants were nice and amazing
people. We acquired new friends, shared our experience, made cross-cultural
communication. We had an Intercultural evening, where the participants from
other countries had an opportunity to identify our country and culture, customs
and traditions.
This training was well organized by our
Georgian friends. One day they took us to visit a lovely city Batumi, showed us
Botanical Garden, and then they
organized a Georgian dinner with traditional food at a nice Georgian
restaurant. In the last evening of our stay they cooked a Georgian barbeque,
which we liked much.
We liked this project and highly recommend
my friends to take part in a “Youth in Action” programmes.
