The aim of the initiative was to give an opportunity to youth organizations to learn about UN activities and main objectives in general, and about the work of UN Armenia Office in particular. The UN Armenia staff talked also about the Millennium Development Goals as well as about their localized format.
The event was attended by the public relations and project responsible staff from the following agencies: United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), United Nations Department of Public Information (UNDPI) and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO),
while representatives from the following youth organizations were present: “Serund(Generation) Pan-Armenian Youth Center”, YOUTH, School for Young Leaders, Youth for Future, Wide Opportunities, Youth Government of Armenia, Society Without Violence, WE Center for Young Innovators, Generation of Hayk, WostAYN (Armenian Youth Network), The Students` Council of Armenian Diaspora, Youth Getashen, Stepanavan Youth Center, Ohanyan educational center and others – overall 24 NGOs.
The meeting was very productive in terms of both the content and youth participation. During the discussion the representatives of the youth organizations found common interest, which formed a platform for further cooperation with different agencies of the UN Country Team.
“UN 4 You(th) - You(th) 4 UN” initiative received a positive response and already during the meeting several agreements were reached to lay the further co-operation on a strong foundation.
